Region 8 Head Start Association
Why Region 8 Board?
The Region 8 board supports NHSA in the commitment to give every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and in life. The Region 8 Head Start supports the Region 8 states in providing trainings through Early Childhood conferences. Head Start offers a unique whole child/whole family program design coupled with a delivery system that includes local programs, national standards, monitoring, professional development, and family engagement.
Mission
To provide leadership and advocacy that promotes and supports the effectiveness of Head Start Association members.
Vision
All children and families will be successful in school, in life, and will reach their full potential.
History
The Head Start Project was launched in 1965 as a comprehensive child development program.

Dollar Per Child!
Why is Dollar per Child so Important? Dollar per child is to pay for advocacy in the political arena. Power structures in Washington are constantly changing, whether in Congress or with the new Administration. In the past year, hundreds of new bureaucrats have come to Washington, many with the power to impact Head Start programs across the country. Region 8 Head Start Association supports NHSA to ensure that they continue to unleash external experts to influence policymakers and their staffs.
